Good News
Well, it's Friday morning in sunny (for now) Santa Rosa, California. While I'm waiting for my morning coffee to take effect, I thought I'd share some good news.
So back in November I applied to a writing gig. The money was good, and the subject was right up my alley. After hearing nothing back, I completely forgot about it. Two days ago I received an email basically saying, "Well, I hired someone else to do the project. Now that it's done, how would you like to be an editor? I also think we could work together on other projects later in the year."
The email was a surprise, but a great one, nonetheless. So far this experience has taught me a valuable lesson about the freelance world: just because someone doesn't think you're right for a specific job, it doesn't mean they forget about you altogether.
So yeah, even though I have plenty of work on my plate today, it's nice to know that some more is on its way.
2/27 Edit: Welp, maybe I spoke too soon. Although my contact still wants to work with me later in the year, he blew his current consulting budget. Oh well. Moving on.
