Story Release!

I am happy to announce that “Ouroboros” appears today in Nature Futures!

It took a long time for this story to go from idea to finished product, one I wasn’t sure would ever see the light of day. I’m so happy that Futures editor Colin Sullivan saw its potential and chose it for publication. It’s been a long journey, and it is tremendously satisfying to see “Ouroboros” alongside “Chrysalis” and “What Must Remain” on the Futures website.

Selling “Ouroboros” puts me above the $1,000 necessary to qualify for full membership in the Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers of America. Unfortunately, I don’t have receipts for all the stories I sold, meaning I may have to wait a bit longer before qualifying. But that’s not going to stop me from sending in the application and seeing what they say.

In the meantime, I’m actively trying to sell two new stories. “Records of Modern Matters” is a fantasy piece set in the realm of the Japanese Shinto gods. In “A Place Where Flowers Bloom,” a Polish man discovers that his humble farm is one of the multiverse’s most popular tourist destinations. I’m sure both of these stories will find homes somewhere.

That said, I’m going to take today off. It’s been a whirlwind of crap going on in the world lately, which, to be honest, has affected my ability to work. Another day without much going on might not seem like the best financial decision, but it’s worth celebrating victories. And any victory, no matter how small, shouldn’t go uncelebrated.
